We then leave the grounds and continue on tracks and lanes to our lunch stop in East Keswick.

Harewood House - A country house in West Yorkshire north of Leeds . Harwood House has been the setting for many films and tv series . Part of the estate is still used in the soap opera Emmerdale The walk
Our walk today starts at the Harewood Arms Hotel on A61 road . We commence by crossing the road so walk North for a short while then tuning left and passing the Muddy Boots cafe on to the Harewood estate .From here we follow a metalled path then through a small wooded area to High Weardley . We then turn South down another small road to turn West to head through Stubb house plantation onto the Leeds Country way. Onward through Piper wood to New Bridge on path to reach the A61 road again. From here we pass Lofthouse farm before turning left past Wike wood . Then on across 2 fields and going North to Spring wood and Holling Hall . Onwards North passing New Laith farm to the A695 road . We walk a short way on the road before turning right to reach a path which takes us back to Harewood .Be warned because of the weather we have been having recently some areas of the walk could be Muddy therefore a stick could be very helpful today Now for a well deserved drink in the Harewood Arms Please join me on this excellent walk which is anther variation on some of our excellent and varied walks.
'C' Walk - Leaders - Elaine & Jean. Dist- 5 miles. Asc- 538ft . Grade - mod. Anticlockwise. Our Club have been regular visitors to Harewood House for many years and today's walk will take us along some familiar tracks and footpaths, mainly on the outskirts of the Harewood Estate. The coach will park at the rear of the Harewood Arms Hotel, just off Main Street, before we make our way to the popular Muddy Boots café which is just a short walk away on Church Lane. The café does get very busy so tables need to be booked and food and drink choices have to be made in advance. Further details on this to follow.
A left turn after approximately a mile will take us downwards past Home Farm, which is now a converted 'Business Centre', with views of the Estate Lake to our left. We then have our first ascent of the day past Carr House, before we meet with the Leeds Country Way. After a short climb the route descends once more to cross a small bridge before the final ascent of the day towards the A61, Harrogate Road. The final section of the walk is through the Wall Side Plantation, a flat track though the plantation which will emerge near to the main entrance gates of the Harewood Estate. We then have a short walk to the Harewood Arms Hotel where we can enjoy our final refreshments. Most of the paths and tracks on today's walk are generally good, with just the possibility of occasional wet sections after rain, so a walking pole is recommended. We have excellent views throughout the walk of the House and of the surrounding landscape, courtesy of the well known landscape designer 'Capability Brown'. No deer or Red Kites were encountered on the day of the recce but hopefully we will have more luck on the day!! Do join us on this interesting stroll around the Harewood Estate.

| Welcome to DONCASTER HF RAMBLING CLUB, an independent, non-profit-making walking club founded in 1948 under the auspices of Holiday Fellowship, now known as HF Holidays to whom we have been affiliated ever since. Our Club strives to provide its members with opportunities for the healthy enjoyment of the countryside, in a spirit of friendship and fun. With many members from Doncaster and beyond, we organise walks to take place once a month on a Sunday, visiting a wide range of locations in the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire Moors and coast, Yorkshire Wolds, Lincolnshire Wolds, South Pennines and Staffordshire too. A pictorial record of our walks can be accessed from the drop-down menu under 'Recent Walks' and 'Where We Go'. At each location we offer a choice of three guided walks of varying degrees of distance and difficulty, an example of which can be found in the menu under 'Next Walk'. For social events, we organise residential visits to more distant areas such as the Lake District, South Derbyshire and Northumberland, a record of which can also be accessed from the menu under 'Weekend Away', whilst in December members are invited to attend a Christmas lunch following our walk. 'Walk Leader Training' also gives a glimpse of how members can become involved. We provide transport to all our walk locations by private coach, with members boarding and being dropped off at a number of points around Doncaster - as listed in the drop-down menu under 'Booking Walks'. We welcome prospective new members by encouraging them to participate in a couple of walks before asking them to pay our annual membership subscription.
